About us
The journey of the Greater Love Temple of Faith Church began on Easter Sunday, April 11,
2004, within the humble confines of a rented room at the YWCA in Wilmington, Delaware.
Elder George H. McCurdy, Jr., inspired by a divine vision, embarked on a mission to
establish a haven for Christ's community. Sacrificing comfort and status, Elder McCurdy, alongside Deaconess Dianne McCurdy and their family, heeded the call to manifest God's plan.
Initially serving at the YWCA in downtown Wilmington, Delaware, the church soon found
itself guided by divine providence to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There, services found a
home in a rented storefront at 3852 Germantown Avenue, marking a new chapter in the
church' s journey. Fueled by faith and sustained by a dedicated few, Elder McCurdy began the search for a permanent sanctuary. Despite facing setbacks and rejections, he clung steadfastly to God's promises, unwavering in his pursuit of the envisioned community. In June 2005, divine favor shone upon them, and the congregation acquired the building at 1344-48 W. Somerset Street.
On October 14, 2009, the Lord looked upon our beloved Pastor McCurdy and called him
home. However, his legacy endured, passing the torch to the next generation. On the 24th day of September 2011, Elder Tahnaya McCurdy-Peeples, was officially installed Pastor of the Temple of Faith Church, Inc. with the Holy Spirit and in accordance of the will and desire of the officers and members of the church.
Pastor McCurdy-Peeples has faithfully upheld the church's mission, as articulated in Matthew 28:19-20. “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end
of the world.” She empowers her flock to deepen their faith and embark on their spiritual
journey under her guidance.
Endowed with divine strength, Pastor McCurdy-Peeples leads her congregation in
community outreach, offering nourishment for body and soul through initiatives such as free
breakfasts, an Annual Community Day, Thanksgiving baskets, and Vacation Bible School.
She's deeply committed to supporting those grappling with substance abuse, forging
partnerships with local organizations for initiatives like winter coat drives and food
distributions.
Greater Love Temple of Faith Church remains a vessel of divine direction and vision, guided by Pastor McCurdy-Peeples. Her fervent aspiration is to lead God's people according to His will, guiding them along the path of righteousness.
